Salomón Urrea
Salomón Urrea is a Colombian visual artist whose work is deeply rooted in nature, cultural memory, and the symbolic relationship between humans and animals. His artistic practice focuses on realistic and poetic representations of wildlife, often inspired by the landscapes and biodiversity of the Colombian Llanos. Through a careful and contemplative process, Salomón explores themes such as time, silence, wisdom, and presence. Animals in his paintings are not merely subjects, but symbolic mirrors of human emotion and inner states. Their gaze plays a central role, inviting the viewer into a quiet yet powerful dialogue. Salomón’s work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and his current artistic journey seeks to create spaces of pause and reflection in a fast-moving world.
Artistic Motivation & Inspiration
Salomón’s primary motivation is to honor life through attentive observation. He believes that nothing exists by chance, and that every living being carries a form of wisdom. This belief guides his artistic process, which is grounded in patience, discipline, and respect for the subject. Nature is his main source of inspiration, not only as a visual reference, but as a philosophical guide. The animal figures in his work often embody values such as resilience, intuition, dignity, and quiet strength. His paintings are created in silence and trust, allowing the final image to reveal itself fully only when the work is complete. For Salomón, art is not an act of decoration, but a means of connection between cultures, between beings, and between inner and outer worlds.
